CONTEMPORARY DANCE TECHNIQUE & VOICE | Maud Karlsson
CONTEMPORARY DANCE TECHNIQUE & VOICE / open level, B+C level
Maud Karlsson will teach a contemporary technique class with a twist of improvisational elements with sound and voice. In her technique class, you will work with length, breath, form and release. There is a touch of ballet and a touch of afro, pulled up yet with your weight down. Fluid, precise and expressive.
A standing warm-up, gradually growing into one long phrase. Technique exercises
combined with dance phrases across the floor. The extended class will allow improvisational work with movements as well as with the voice. Voice work that will add to the expression of the body and the movement.
BIOGRAPHY / Maud Karlsson
Maud Karlsson (Sweden) graduated from the Ballet Academy in Stockholm. She worked extensively as a dancer for 11 years, with Donald Byrd/The Group amongst others in New York. Maud full length piece “Hesitate, choose, throw myself in” led to a number of commissioned work for art museums and conferences around Sweden. The focus was on custom made and site specific productions and MaudsArt was initiated. Maud’s ways of expression were developing and the productions came to entail dance, text, and voice compositions, it looks like installations or performance art. In 2009 Maud did her first short film “Another way of saying it” and since then continued with several short films. Latest production “Les trois femmes” premiered in 2012 at Uppsala Stadsteater, several new films can be seen as part of the performances.
