Choreographic research project “Standing on Earth”

Choreographic research project ‘Standing on Earth’ was started by Grėtė Šmitaitė in March 2020, with the start of covid-19 pandemic, to rethink one’s relations with places and people.

The environment and society are perceived as constantly information, while one is opening one’s eyes upon them, always a participant of them.

The research was:

-observing, adapting and dancing ‘out in the open’

-reading books by Tim Ingold. Perceiving the world that is worldling, that is changing as the weather does.

-reading ‘Contact Quarterly dance journal 1975-1992’

-sharing one’s doings with the mentor of the research Stephen Batts and colleagues: Christine Quoiraud, Rūta Junevičiūtė, Hanna Kritten Tangsoo, Magdalena Meindl, Lyllie Rouvière, Forough Fami, Iivy Meltaus.

Documentation of the research

Developed with the support of the creative residency programme of Lithuanian Dance Information Centre and Lithuanian Council for Culture.
