Dance dramaturgy workshop with Thomas Schaupp (Germany)

Lithuanian Dance Information Centre (LDIC) invites you to a free online workshop which is relevant to dance artists. During the event, dance dramaturg and curator Thomas Schaupp will share his insights on how we can build bridges between art piece and the spectator and foster creative and critical thinking through the help of dramaturgy.

The workshop is open to both professional and amateur dance artists, dance teachers, the workshop will also be useful for other representatives of performing arts.

Date and time of the event: October 19th, 4 P.M. (EEST). The approximate duration: up to 1 hour. The workshop will be held in English.

This remote event will conclude the two-day continuous workshop organized by LŠIC, where Thomas Schaupp will meet live with Lithuanian dance artists. The participants of the seminar together with the lecturer will visit the international dance festival “AURA” in Kaunas, analyze the works presented at the festival, discuss dramaturgy and its possibilities to help the creator express his thoughts to the audience.

Shortly about the lecturer: Thomas (he/him) is a dance dramaturg and curator based in Berlin. In 2010, while still a student, he interned for Sasha Waltz & Guests in Berlin and Paris, as well as for the National Center for Dance in Bucharest. Soon after his studies, he devoted himself fully to freelance work as a dramaturg and has since been working internationally with choreographers across Europe and beyond, is invited as an advisor in mentoring programs of choreographic institutions in Berlin, Reykjavik, Beijing and is one of the founders of a podcast ‘Contextualizing Dance’.
