About the workshop: Dramaturgy and the dramaturgical still can be considered as a relatively new profession as well as mode of thinking within the dance field, especially in contemporary dance practices. And here it is, if at all, widely understood as a mode of looking and thinking in and through the evolution of ideas thru time – assisting the choreographer in building up the final journey of the dance work. Far less considered is a profound aspect that lies right within the notion of dramaturgy itself. As it translates itself as „working with/on actions“, it could also be understood as a mode of „thinking in togetherness“ – Relevant in times, in which art as a place for public discourse is increasingly challenged by the polarization in the society.
Based on this presumption this Introductory Workshop outlines the Dramaturgical as a collaborative practice, interlinking the arts with the society, creating common grounds and considering the place of the other, e.g. the public. Together we will raise questions around the relevance and the necessity but also the responsibility of the Dramaturgical within Art Making?
