Aira Naginevičiūtė

About

Aira Naginevičiūtė is a pioneer of contemporary dance in independent Lithuania. After dancing for many years on different stages, Aira started her creative path by staging dance performances, initiating interdisciplinary projects, and doing choreography for operas. She has over 30 solid works in her CV so far – most of them were shown at prestige locations in Lithuania and abroad, international festivals.

In 2013, she founded “AIROS”, a dance theatre with four staged plays, several Lithuanian Golden Stage Cross (Lithuanian theatre awards) nominations, and participation in Asian, European, and African festivals.

In her works, the author always focuses on prominent existential questions.

“The exceptionality of A. Naginevičiūtė lies within her refusing to treat dance as a routine process. Her performances are marked with a stamp of pure quality – the precision and attention to detail make her works paint a vivid picture for all audiences. This artist constructs her plays from the tiniest intricacies, adding up to large and very visual creations that are respected both in Lithuania and abroad,” dance critic Vita Mozūraitė wrote.
