AIROS Dance Theatre

About

The AIROS Dance Theatre was established in 2013 by the Lithuanian choreographer and director Aira Naginevičiūtė after more than 30 years of her experience as a dancer and choreographer. In AIROS company repertory are three complex, large-scale productions created by choreographer Aira Naginevičiūtė – Chimera’s Beads (2013), Glass Gardens (2015), Towers of Melancholy (2016) and site-specific project Hour of the Wolf. All performances have been marked by nominations of the highest theatre award in Lithuania – the Golden Stage Cross. At a core of choreographer performances are artistic innovations, which include spatial scenography, optical music, sound architecture, dance, cinema, text, voice, poetry.

In 2017 the AIROS Dance Theatre offered opportunity for young generation choreographers. Agnietė Lisičkinaitė in her original choreography “Z+” deepens understanding of this unique generation.

AIROS Dance Theatre works have been performed throughout Lithuania and abroad. In 2016 Chimera’s Beads opened the Experimental Theatre Biennale in Shenzhen, China, in 2017 Towers of Melancholy – opened International Dance Festival Kaay Fecc in Dakar (Senegal). In 2018 AIROS Dance Theatre was invited to the Baltic Dance Festival in Gotenburg (Sweden).
