Goda Žukauskaitė is a contemporary dancer, performer, and creator based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Goda graduated from the Amsterdam Academy of the Arts, Modern Theatre Dance department (2018). She is a dancer/performer at a few dance companies: “Kalpanarts” (NL), “Schweigman&” (NL), “Bitter Sweet Dance” (NL). She’s also working in collaboration with various independent artists and organizations in The Netherlands and Lithuania.
Since childhood, she has been practicing dance and theatre. Goda was performing at the Youth Dance Theatre “Aglija” for eight years (2002–2010), and then working as a dancer/actress in two professional theatres in Lithuania – Lithuanian Russian Drama Theatre and The State Small Theatre of Vilnius for four years (2010–2014).
Goda is constantly taking workshops with the world’s leading choreographers/dancers, creating her own performances (solo “st. One”, “Rite”, duet “Deep water is deep”, etc.). Recently, she came back to Lithuania to lead some workshops for dancers and non-dancers. Since 2015, she has been working as a guest teacher at the Humane Education School “Open Lesson” (Vilnius, Lithuania). Also, she is currently developing her own “Live Movement Practice” method, working on her own research “Performative Reality”.
Goda’s dance practices are very much related to research on the physical body transformations while performing. She’s using physical theatre methods, looking for connections with people and the space around them, constantly challenging herself, finding different perspectives of dance, and inviting the spectators to have a dialogue while bringing her own atmosphere and opening up the senses. Goda has a lot of experience in site-specific projects as well as on stage; she’s an active collaborator with other disciplines of art.
