Grėtė Šmitaitė – performer, choreographer creating and living in Lithuania and Berlin, born in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 2017, G. Šmitaitė obtained a bachelor’s degree in “Dance. Context. Choreography”at Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin and became a recipient of the danceWEB scholarship.
As a dancer, Grėtė collaborates with choreographers Anna Aristarkhova, Doris Uhlich, and Min Tanaka. Grėtė is part of the Suddenly collective.
In 2018, as a choreographer together with Hanna Kritten Tangsoo, G. Šmitaitė co-choreographed “Limitation Piece 2” for the “Suddenly” collective (premiere: Uferstudios, TanzFabrik Berlin). In 2019, Grėtė presented a solo “What do I cry for?” (premiere: STL Tallinn).
