Creative Lab “Complex Simplicity” / C level
Sita’s approach gives the opportunity to discover and be creative with the connection between mind and body. Recognising tension and breaking unconscious movement habits, this workshop enables participants to be in control of their own physical instrument and continue growing creatively, technically and emotionally. Sita works with a game of images, situations, feelings, rhythm, to support individual research on one’s own totality in ever changing circumstances. Her physicality is built on full, embodied, fast, rhythmical changes of emotions and images.
With this preparation, the dancers then move into learning a given choreography, exploring how to find oneself in learning situations, and absorbing the material. Sita’s movement language is expressive, fluent, sensual and earthy. The unique, animalistic movement language that arises from human instincts is her particular and peculiar signature in dance.
BIOGRAPHY
Sita Ostheimer has been guiding and sharing her philosophy in masterclasses and workshops for the international contemporary dance scene. She is a former dancer with Hofesh Shechter Company, she also leads workshops in Staatsballett Berlin.
Sita Ostheimer (Germany/UK) studied at the Dr. Hoch’s Konservatorium and the University of Music and Performance Arts in Frankfurt am Main. After that she joined MS Schrittmacher in Oldenburg, worked with Galili Dance (Itzik Galili), and then continued her career in Amsterdam with Krisztina de Chatel. She is a former dancer and choreographic assistant with Hofesh Shechter Company, she also leads workshops in Staatsballett Berlin. Since 2007, artistic director Sita Ostheimer has been guiding and sharing her philosophy in masterclasses and workshops for the international contemporary dance scene. Sita has been regularly teaching in Hofesh Shechter Company, Paris Conservatoire,The Royal Danish Ballet, B12 Festival Berlin, Dansehallerne Copenhagen, Dock11 Berlin and more other places. Since 2017 working on different creations with Sita Ostheimer Company.
