<\/p>\nThe distant country of Mexico and international South American performing arts festivals have appeared in Lithuania’s contemporary dance tour maps this year. For Kaunas Dance Theater \u201cAura\u201d, dance company \u201cNuepiko\u201d, dancers Anna-Marija Adomaityt\u0117 and Aist\u0117 Kriukelyt\u0117 August started with a trip to Mexico. Presented by Lithuanian Dance Information Center, Lithuanian artists performed for South American audience and organized creative skills workshops for local professionals. First Lithuanian tour in Mexico of this size visited five cities and gave great results – new connections and interesting plans for the future. This tour is a result of long-lasting professional relationship between different dance communities. Lithuanian dance presentation in Mexico was partly financed by Lithuanian Council for Culture.<\/p>\n

@Demora Liliana<\/em><\/p>\n Performed at International Festivals<\/strong><\/p>\n Kaunas Dance Theater \u201cAura\u201d presented their production to the audience of almost one and a half thousand people. At the FIDCDMX (Festival Internacional de Danza Contempor\u00e1nea de la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico) festival in Mexico City, greatly attended by South American dance professionals, Aura performed with a dance piece \u201cGodos\u201d. At the Cuernavaca based Festival Morelos Tierra De Encuentro they presented two performances with excerpts from performances \u201cMake The Switch from Me\u201d, \u201cI Want Daily Bread from Your Feeding Hands\u201d, \u201cGame Changer\u201d and performance \u201cBlossom\u201d, which was inspired by the life of famous Mexican Frida Kahlo. Anna-Marija Adomaityt\u0117 with performance \u201cDurade\u201d and company \u201cNuepiko\u201d with \u201c(g)round zero\u201d also performed at FIDCDMX. After that \u201cNuepiko\u201d traveled to three other cities, connected by the international dance festival \u201cConcerntica\u201d: Chapala, Teziutl\u00e1n and Pachuca where \u201c(g)round zero\u201d was seen by 400 spectators in total.<\/p>\n @Emmanuel Adamez<\/em><\/p>\n Dance and movement artist Aist\u0117 Kriukelyt\u0117 traveled to Mexico as ne of thirty selected participants for FIDCDMX festival\u2019s soloist competition. Here she performed together with other artists from Israel, South Korea, Australia, Turkey, Canada, Finland, Burkina Faso, USA, Mexico, Denmark, Italy, Malaysia and other countries. \u201cAccording to one of the rules of this competition, all the participants had to be over 40 years old and that fact really attracted me, because in our country it is usually a time to step down from the stage, not to participate in competitions\u201d – says Aist\u0117 Kriukelyt\u0117 who was really happy about the concept of this event and warm communication between participants.<\/p>\n Education and Future Plans<\/strong><\/p>\n Lithuanian delegation in Mexico presented their artistic work but also they organized creative workshops and participated in them as well. \u201cAura\u201d team led seminars in Cuernavaca, for \u201cForamen M. Ballet\u201d company dancers and other dance professionals. Together with mentioned company, \u201cAura\u201d participated in mutual dance technique and performing arts seminars. \u201cNuepiko\u2019 members Marius Pinigis, Marius Paplauskas and Andrius Stakel\u0117 led eight contemporary and street dance workshops which were participated by sixty dancers of various age and experience. \u201cIt is important to mention that at the FIDCDMX we were one of only three international companies that not only performed, but led dance workshops as well.\u201d – says Marius Pinigis. Dancer says he is also happy that they succeeded in making new important contacts: \u201cWe especially value the visit to Teziutl\u00e1n city where we made connections with the director of the main city theater curating the most important event in town – International Teziutl\u00e1n Art Festival. It includes music, dance and theater. We started talking about the opportunities to organize \u201c(g)round zero\u201d tour in North Mexico and two states in the South of USA – California and Texas.\u201d \u201cNuepiko\u201d says that the contact with Pachuca Arts University is very important to the company as well. They organized dance workshops there and are thinking about coming back next year to have longer duration seminars.<\/p>\n @A.LopezS<\/em><\/p>\n Kaunas Dance Theater \u201cAura\u201d has also brought back plans to collaborate with Mexican dance field. \u201cForamen M.Ballet\u201d company is supposed to perform at the \u201cAura\u201d dance festival next year. It is also planned to collaborate on a piece by both companies together, with live music created by Lithuanian and Mexican composers. According to \u201cAura\u201d director Birut\u0117 Letukait\u0117, this way the artists would be able to connect these very different and distant countries.
