Laima Servaitė, coordinator of the Lithuanian Dance Information Centre (LDIC), brought some brilliant news from the Circus Next festival which took place in Paris this March: new international opportunities await the Lithuanian circus artists.

""

Circus Next is a multi-annual project dedicated to discovering and supporting new circus talents, partly funded by the European Union (Creative Europe Program). LDIC joined Circus Next last year, when it decided to expand its field of activity and include contemporary circus which have grown stronger in Lithuania during the last few years. After joining the project, LDIC has become one of 30 partners and will invite emerging Lithuanian circus artists to apply with their ideas for the first time this year. Also, for the first time in Lithuania, LDIC will present Circus Next winners – selected contemporary circus performances from Europe.

In the course of the project, all countries represented by the partners will announce open calls for artistic circus projects which will be evaluated by juries of regional and European professionals. A total of twelve applicants will be selected and provided with performance creation funding and artistic residences. One year later, 6 selected laureates will be given an opportunity to present their performances for an international audience at a festival in France, their presentation in partner European countries will be partly funded as well. LDIC is the only Circus Next partner in the Baltic States, so the open call will be also available for Latvian and Estonian circus artists. The open call will be announced on April 19th.

LDIC kindly invites anyone who has questions about the project to join the video conference with the organizers on April 10, please contact info@dance.lt for participation and information.

All information about the contest and progress of the project will be available at www.dance.lt and www.circusnext.eu.
