The international contemporary circus festival <\/strong>\u201cCirkuliacija<\/strong>\u201d is returning to Kaunas, Lithuania. Due to the global pandemic, the fifth festival is organized in a new format \u2013 on June 6th<\/sup> -14th<\/sup> the audience will be invited to the virtual program.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Gildas Aleksa, the art director of the \u201cCirkuliacija\u201d, stated that the program of the international performances will be rescheduled for the next year festival due to global pandemic crises, but two aspects of the event remain in 2020: education and communication.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have discussed the situation of the contemporary circus field in Lithuania and we have decided that it is not possible to leave a gap year without raising the artistic qualification or developing new skills,\u201d G. Aleksa told. \u201cAn online creative workshop with the Canadian artist Claudel Doucet and independent artist from Israel Ariel Bronz already started. The education takes place on a virtual platform, but the participants will focus their artistic research on certain places in the Vilijampol\u0117 area in Kaunas. We cannot invite local people to see the results of the educational process for the safety reasons, but we\u2019re happy that Vilijampol\u0117 will get some circus injections this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The main program of the 2020 festival will broadcast talks with the international guests. G. Aleksa highlighted that the audience will virtually meet the participants of the festival on podcasts and it is a great opportunity to get to know the troupes more closely even before seeing the actual performances next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe guests of the festival are very different personalities with their unique experiences. I can only guarantee that the talks go out of the script and we will learn a lot about people themselves, their lives in the current conditions and we\u2019ll get to the backstage of the performances. It will be a great opportunity to get a discussion a year before the performance instead of a discussion after the show,\u201d G. Aleksa commented.<\/p>\n

\u2b55\ufe0f The program<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udccdVirtual creative workshops<\/p>\n

This \u201edistanced workshop\u201c will develop new skills and raise the qualifications of artists. Over 2 weeks, the artists will engage together via video conferences and then have different practical exercises to explore individually. The performers will communicate with the lecturers in a virtual way, discussions and attempts will be made to link their research with certain places in Vilijampol\u0117. On June 6th, 14h the results of the education process will intervene in the Vilijampol\u0117 area.<\/p>\n

\nAriel Bronz Dig-it?
\nAriel Bronz is an independent artist, theater director, performance artist, playwright, poet, actor, acting and performance teacher and the house director of ‘Clipa Company’. He created the performance \u201eLocked\u201d and researches the themes about commemoration and The Holocaust.<\/p>\n

\nClaudel Doucet HELLO – HOW ARE YOU (SOMETHING DID HAPPEN) – working title
\nClaudel Doucet is a famous artist in Canada. She researches risk in bodies and presences to weaken facades and explores the forces that stretch, between violence and tenderness. Her interdisciplinary projects explore intimacy long to create new forms of communities. One of them \u2013 the performance \u201eSe Prendre\u201d.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udccdPodcasts<\/p>\n

The audience will virtually meet the participants of the Festival on podcasts and the live performances of the guests are postponed till the next year. This meeting will give an audience the opportunity to get to know the troupes more closely even before seeing the actual performances.<\/p>\n
