About us

Lithuanian Dance Information Centre (LDIC) is non-governmental organisation was founded in 1995 through private initiative. The organisation aims to strengthen the position of professional contemporary dance, both nationally and internationally, and to develop and expand the field of professional contemporary dance in Lithuania by implementing educational programmes, fostering active networking and promotion, and increasing contemporary dance’s popularity throughout the country. Additionally, the organisation seeks to expand the international reach of Lithuanian contemporary dance by participating in high-profile international projects, festivals, and networking initiatives.

LDIC focuses on:

• Collecting and spreading information on Lithuanian dance professionals, companies, performances, and compiling statistics related to Lithuanian dance
• Organizing workshops and providing mentoring for Lithuanian dance professionals
• Working as a strong national partner in advocacy and lobbying for the dance art
• Coordinating the promotion of Lithuanian dance by starting and maintaining international relationships and contacts

International collaborations:

• LDIC organizes Lithuanian dance showcase events with networking opportunities for dance professionals and presents Lithuanian dance at international performing arts fairs, platforms and gatherings
• LDIC is an active member in international networks (ISPA, Aerowaves, Baltic Nordic dance network) and participates in collaboration projects that focus on creating opportunities for professionals of this field

Main activities:

• International contemporary dance festival “New Baltic Dance”
• International summer dance school for professionals and amateurs and other education projects
• USB and a brochure entitled Lithuanian Dance Scene which presents premiers of professional Lithuanian contemporary dance staged during one year
• Lithuanian dance platform organized in partnership with the Culture institute and Lithuanian culture attachés
• Dance Through Word – Not[new]criticism – a project devoted to the development of dance criticism
• Presenting the most prestigious dance companies from around the world in Lithuania
